Workouts, Music and Motivation?

Soooo... its been less than a week and I've already fallen off on my blogging. SMH Anywho, I've been eating poorly and haven't kept track of everything I've eathen, but think bacon cheese burgers, lobster and crab bisque, chicken fingers, fried catfish, buffalo wings, cupcakes, and lots of alcohol. On the upside I did spend a whole day running around in the woods shooting people. I'm pretty sure playing paintball counts as a workout. :-)

Weigh in: 145.6lbs (9/20/2011 @ 5:54 am) That's surprisingly good progress considering the way I've been eating.

Work outs: I've switched up my work out schedule again. For the most part I've been doing a lot of strength training, and a few weeks ago I went on a Cardio kick. Last week I decided to find a happy medium. So I alternate strength training and cardio. Yesterday was a strength training day and it was leg day. Which goes as follows

Leg Press
4 sets of 15 reps at 160lbs

Lounges
4 sets of 10reps at 40lbs

Squats
3 sets of 12 reps @90lbs

Leg Curl
3 sets of 10 reps @90lbs

Leg Extension
3 sets of 12 reps, two at 75lbs and one at 90lbs

Aductors
3 sets of 40 reps at 80lbs

Abductors
3 sets of 40 reps at 90lbs

Ended with a little light cardio on the ArcTrainer while I waited on RR to finish his cardio.

Today will be a Cardio day, so I'm working on my Cardio playlist. So far Kanye's Power has earned a permanent spot on my gym playlist. Other songs on the playlist are Rihanna's Rockstar 101, Jamie Foxx - I don't need it, Gym Class Heroes - To Bob Ross with Love, Nelly Furtado - Maneater, Janelle Monet - Tightrope, Delta Spirit - People C'mon, etc. What's on your workout playlist?

So while I haven't been blogging, I have been hitting the gym despite how much the changing weather makes me want to go home an curl up with a cup a tea. I am not a fun trainee when I'm not motivated, and lately the only thing I've been motivated to do is go home and sleep. However for some reason RR keeps dragging me to the gym and taking my abuse (read: whining and complaining) everyday with an endless supply of patience and only the occasional eye roll. So currently, my gym motivation is RR, mostly because he drags me kicking and screaming. But what do you do when your inspiration photos and body role models, aren't enough anymore?

Food and Sports Bras

Breakfast: Protein shake with soy milk and a splash of blueberry juice

Lunch: Grilled chicken sammich (lol) with cheddar cheese and mayo. (By grilled I mean from my grill at home and not whatever that is McDonald's gives you when u order grilled chicken) Coffee with lots of sugar, and 4 oz of apple sauce.

Dinner : TBD but mostly more grilled chicken probably with a different marinade and leftover cucumber salad, or a regular salad.

Gym workout: ~15-20 min of cardio and legs. Quads, hamstrings, ad and abductors (I'll post specifics later on tonight)

On unrelated note, anyone know of a good cheap sports bra, like $20 or less, ideally less. I generally just wander into Walmart grab some $10 danskin pants and maybe a matching t-shirt then grab a sports bra for like $3.88 in whatever the color I like best at that time. However, TM (or maybe I'll nickname you something else later) recently lectured me about how horrible the sports bra I had onin my initial weigh in in photo was. She reccomended one that she likes but I have a hard timepaying $40 for a sports bra. My shirts are generally $40 or less, and thats WAAAY more fabric than a sports bra!!!

So apparently the good sports bras have clasps because if its stretches enough to where you can pull it over your head its not going to tight enough to hold u in properly... which makes sense. But must I REALLY pay $40+ for that? ::le sigh::

Food Diary

So this weekend was particularly horrible in terms of food choices and I got no exercise in (unless you count cutting my grass), and I haven't been taking my vitamins not even my iron pills. smh

RR and I had a small cookout yesterday, which is probably the source of the problem, but it was fun, delicious and worth it!!! (i think)

Saturday
Breakfast: I started the morning off with another bowl of honey nut cheerios,

Lunch: Some fried crab wontons and a snapple,

Dinner: Turkey burger with cheese; tomato, cucumber and onion salad, mixed fruit, (at least i got some fruits and veggies in!!) a red velvet cupcake, a tastycake lemon cupcake with ice cream (pure heaven), and a couple of Smirnoff ices.

Sunday
This morning RR & I indulged my IHOP craving. I'm currently weighing in at 148.4 (yikes!!)

Gotta do better this week!! On the upside I reordered my protein shake (pictured below), and I bought some soy milk. So I'm gonna get back to doing my morning protein shake, which is also chock full of protein, vitamins and other goodies, so that'll help out on days like today when i forget to take my vitamins. :-)

Maybe I'll take a jog or ride my bike around the neighborhood... :-/ Doubtful tho.

Week One - September 9th, 2011

I weighed in at 146.6 lbs at 11:50 am this morning.

This is me shortly after my weigh in, post bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, 30 min on the treadmill and about 15 sit ups.

After this photo was taken I ate a handful of carrot and sticks drank a bottle of water. Later I had a bunch of cinna-bites (sweetened soft pretzel bites served with a sugary frosting) at the movie theater, and washed them down with Cherry coke. My boyfriend and workout buddy, RR, is currently frying up some cod fish and I have french fries baking in the oven.

I guess now is as good a time as any to point out, that I am not dieting. Ideally, I'm creating a lifestyle change, so that I can keep the weight off once I lose it. I work out every day Monday-through Friday and generally eat what I like. :-)

Goals and Motivation

Every year, like most Americans I swear I'm going to lose a bunch of weight. And like most americans I lose some weight, then lose momentum and generally gain it back during the winter months. This year, I've vowed to do better and already lost ~15lbs, but I still have about 10-15 more lbs to go until my goal weight. Although, I'll stop whereever I decide that I look best.

So while I appreciate anyone who looks at my pics and thinks but you already look great, or you don't need to lose 10 or more lbs, I'm still going to try. I'm writing this blog as extra motivation and also kind of as a check and balance to make sure I'm doing things correctly. So unless my efforts turn unhealthy and/or dangerous, I'd appreciate it if the readers of my blog could refrain from trying to discourage me.

So the plan is basically, to list my workouts, what I've eaten on a daily basis, and any protein shakes, vitamins, etc. I'm using. I'll post weekly photos and weigh-in results. Hopefully, this will help me determine what works best, or where I went wrong, and ultimately help me achieve my goals.

I'd also like to note my goal is not to be Zoey Saldana skinny. Mostly because I want to tie her to a chair and force feed her. But also because I have curves, which I love, and want to keep. So my body role models are Beyonce, Sheree from Real housewives of Atlanta, and Anastacia McPherson who was a contestant on PussyCat Dolls Present: The Search for the doll. If you google the show she's the girl in the middle. But I've also included a picture of her from the show below. For any of you unfamiliar with these ladies they're pictured below... in order.
